Location
La Rosière is a wonderfully attractive well-kept French secret. It has a lovely traditional rustic Savoyard feel with low rise chalet-style accommodation built mostly in wood and stone. With 150km of pistes, La Rosière is part of the large Espace San Bernardo, linked to La Thuile in Italy since 1984.
The area is the origin of the loveable St. Bernard dogs, the cuddly mountain rescuers, still to be found in resort today (a real treat is in store for the kids when they visit the St. Bernard dogs). There are spectacular panoramic views from La Rosière across the Tarentaise valley to Les Arcs, up towards St Foy, Val D'Isere and Tignes and down towards Bourg St Maurice, Aime and Moutiers, as well as impressive views of Mont Blanc from the slopes.
La Rosière is at an altitude of 1850m with the highest on-piste skiing at 2640m and is south facing, enjoying lovely sunshine with an enviable record for excellent snow conditions and huge dumps of snow (*as featured in the Where to Ski and Snowboard Guide 2006). It often has the best snow in the area whilst other resorts are suffering and it lasts right to the end of the season. Queues are rare, even during high season.
~ 150km of pistes ~ 37 lifts, 276 snowmaking machines ~ 44% easy runs ~ 36% for intermediates ~ 20% more challenging ~ 2 Snow Parks ~ Micro-climate, excellent conditions throughout the season ~ Breakfast in France, lunch in Italy ~ Heli-skiing on your doorstep for the adventurous
