About Courchevel Le Praz
Sitting at 1300 metres Le Praz has a rustic feel to the village. The alley ways and winter decorations give you a cute alpine feel, very different the other Courchevel villages. The Olympic ski jump back drop, quick links to 1850 and La Tania make it a perfect base for weekend breaks, affordable accommodation and seasonaire life.
The gondola lift out of the village takes you straight to Courchevel 1850 where you can take the Plantrey chair and gain access to the 1850 bowl without unclipping. The Second lift, Foret chair, serves you straight into the La Tania slopes and quick links to the Meribel valley if you have a Three Valleys ski pass. Finishing your ski day down to Le Praz is a pleasure, with the popular black run Jockeys and red run Murettes snaking their way peacefully through the trees. Start your final run from the summit of Saulire if you really want to earn that beer, with an ear popping1400 metre descent.
Quiet apres ski spots are on offer with Hotel Les Peupliers close to the slopes or The Drop Inn, which brands itself as a snowboarder hangout. If your looking for something on a Monday, L'Escorche do 6 euro cocktails from 5pm. People staying in higher up villages can simply grab the free bus service up the hill that runs every half hour. The quiet village has varied nightlife on offer, Cave des Lys wine bar is a charming little place with traditional french food. L'Escorche is a seasonaire favourite as they literally wheel away the dining tables, plugs in the speakers and pump out live music through the night. The free bus service to La Tania and 1650 will give you more selection if you are willing to explore, make sure you check the timetable as you don't want to miss the last bus home.
Ski rental shops are located in the heart of the village, away from the main road. Ski Set and Sport 2000 offer you competitive prices with equipment suited to all abilities. The Whitestorm Sport 2000 will offer a delivery and collection service if you can't face the ski rental shop after a long journey.
Le Praz is a lovely option that gives you the feel of a quaint quiet alpine village with access to some of the best skiing in the world. Enjoy all that Courchevel has to offer but avoid the crowds and posers you're likely to find at high altitude.
